When San Antonio’s Alameda National Center for Latino Arts and Culture announced their “La Época de Oro” Gala, famous faces from Texas and beyond arrived primped and polished for the glamorous soiree of the season. Former Mexican President, Vicente Fox Quesada and wife Marta Sahagún de Fox, joined over 850 cultural arts supporters to honor the legendary Alameda Theater’s 60th Anniversary and the Museo Alameda. Founding chairman, Henry Muñoz, joined event co-chairs Charles and Melissa Barrett, Javier and Lisa Uribe, and Sergio and Leonor Zacarias to host an over-the-top celebration which Brilliant attended with an enviable front-row seat.The evening was reminiscent of Mexican cinema’s Golden Age, complete with red carpet arrivals, 1940s movie posters and stunning décor provided by Pizzini Designs. Guests mingled outside the theater before heading to the Vistana high-rise for a seated dinner of lavish Mexican fare. The festive cuisine, courtesy of the Cortez family, was followed by an assortment of designer cupcakes and 2-foot tall sculptures of hot pink cotton candy. A late-night after-party at the Alameda Theater sponsored by Neiman Marcus and Cartier provided an epic finish to the dazzling celebration. Guests swooned over one of a kind Cartier watches as they danced the night away to live tunes from celebrity DJ Lucy Wrubel in a beautifully lit ambiance by ELIOS Lighting. Donations and tickets sales from the sold-out event benefited the Alameda’s theater and museum.
