Jason Wu’s First Appearance In Dallas
Designer Jason Wu showcased his Fall 2009 Collection this summer at Nordstrom NorthPark Center. With power event hosts Lori Jones (wife of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones), actress Capa Mooty and Deborah Scott, it wasn’t difficult to have the Who’s Who of Dallas in attendance. And attend they did. With the D.J. spinning some great tunes and champagne and hors d’oeuvres a plenty, the party was a fabulous way to ring in fall’s hottest fashions.

Si Tapas Restaurant and Bar
In case you couldn’t make it to Spain this summer, Si Tapas Restaurant and Bar opened their doors to quell all of our small-plate Spanish cuisine cravings. Housed in a charming cottage in State-Thomas, the restaurant’s menu offers nearly 50 tapas options in addition to their full-course entrees. The concept is the latest from Dallas restaurateur Ildefonso Jimenez, founder of the wildly popular Café Madrid and ran Hola! on McKinney Avenue for eight years. The space has patio seating as well as a great backyard with a view of downtown. Rumor has it that paella will be cooked outside for Sunday brunch in the expansive back lawn.

Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka
Like most people who live in Texas, sweet tea is a staple in my diet. Insert Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka. Jim Irvin, the mastermind behind this incredible invention, runs South Carolina’s only winery and infuses the vodka with tea straight from the Charleston Tea Plantation (just a few miles down the road from the vineyard) and real Louisiana sugar cane. The world’s first hand-crafted sweat tea vodka is one hundred percent pure: pure vodka, pure tea, pure sugar and pure water! A perfect way to enhance your hot Texas summer day. V.O.D.
I recently had the pleasure of discovering V.O.D., an incredibly fabulous boutique in Dallas’ Victory Park. V.O.D. is the concept of Jackie Bolin, Liz Thompson and Elizabeth O’Mahony – a former fashion editor, seasoned buyer and fashion lover, respectively. This intimate boutique not only offers the hottest pieces that can’t be found anywhere else in town, but also collaborates exclusively with archivevintage.com to offer the best names in designer vintage fashion (think a rotating collection of iconic pieces such as Jackie O Gucci bags, ‘80s Alaia, Chloe, Chanel). I’m obsessed with this amazing little find. For more information, click here.

Goss Gallery Exhibition

The Goss-Michael Foundation hosted a stellar and thought-provoking exhibition last month, with works from the collection, “Eat Me Drink Me.” Artists included Mat Collishaw, Matthew Darbyshire, Ian Dawson, Tracey Emin, James Hopkins, John Isaacs, Rachel Kneebone, Mark Titchner, Christian Ward and Gary Webb. The private viewing of the exhibition was packed with Dallas’ art-lovers and inspiration-seekers, which made for some very interesting conversation and unified appreciation for the art on display.
