The big-hearted and the beautiful wined and dined at the recent Les Femmes du Monde soiree to honor the 2009 Woman of the Year, Yvonne Crum of Dallas. Justin Ghiradi, manager of the posh Carolina Herrera boutique in Highland Park Village, hosted the event while gala co-chair duo Carmaleta Whiteley and Jill Rowlett made the announcement for this year’s recipient. The organization was started in June of 1961 by a group of Dallas women concerned with worldly conditions affecting their communities. Today, those original aesthetics are upheld to a tea as a result of wonder women like Crum, who for more than 40 years has demonstrated selfless compassion and commitment to an extensive list of Dallas area charities from Dallas Center for the Performing Arts to the Autism Treatment Center. On October 9, the Rosewood Crescent Hotel will roll out the red carpet to honor Crum with an elegant gala featuring guest speaker CBS 11 Anchor and Managing Editor, Tracy Rowlett. Funds from the fete will benefit Children’s Medical Center Dallas Child Life program and the World Affairs Council.
