It was a stroll down memory lane at the 2009 Texas Toy Soldier Show hosted by Kings X Toy Soldiers in San Antonio. Keeping with the spirit of the Lone Star state, the third annual event moved from “Bolivar Hall” inside the La Villita to a large and lavish venue at the historic Menger Hotel ballroom. The one and only show of its kind featured in Texas was started by Nick Versteeg owner of “Toy Soldiers of San Diego”, the largest dealer and manufacturer of plastic toy soldiers in the world. In addition to the traditional hustle and bustle of the event, historically patrons attended Kings X and King & Country’s “Roughriders & Rose”, to celebrate the exclusive release of “Teddy Roosevelt & The Roughriders” a new commemorative collection of toynfigures. With over 30 dealers of assorted media figurines, historical publications, military artists and reenactors of the Texas Revolution, Civil War, and other historic events, exhibition goers couldn’t help but feel proud to be an American.
